Frequently Asked Questions:

QUESTION: Is Premier Driving School and it's instructors licensed and certified in accordance with State and Federal regulations?

ANSWER:  Premier Driving School is licensed by the state of Washington to teach traffic safety education in the classroom and behind the wheel.

QUESTION: What qualities does Premier Driving School look for when hiring an instructor?

ANSWER:  Our Instructors must pass a screening process prior to being hired. All of our instructors have backgrounds in teaching, law enforcement, coaching, or youth counseling. We only select those individuals who have demonstrated good character, sound judgement and the ability to work well with and enjoy people. After successfully passing our interview process, they are required to submit fingerprints and photos to the F.B.I. If cleared, then they will begin the training program consisting of a minimum of 100 hours in the classroom and behind the wheel. After completion, they must pass an extensive written and driving examination administered by the Washington State Department of Licensing. Our instructors must have AND maintain a clean driving record, and complete continuing education on a regular basis.

QUESTION: Does Premier Driving School teach skills to be collision free forever?

ANSWER: While passing the exam at the DOL is important, we want our students to learn how to avoid accidents and always remain collision free. What sets us apart from other driving schools is that we focus not only on teaching skills, but also teaching the proper attitudes and behaviors that are necessary to be good defensive drivers. We help them to identify common behaviors that could become potential hazards and how to avoid problems that may occur.

QUESTION: Does Premier Driving School or it's instructors have any disciplinary actions filed against them?

ANSWER: Premier Driving School has never had any disciplinary action taken against them by the DOL, and we highly value our relationship with both local and state officials. You can see which schools and instructors have disciplinary actions at

QUESTION: What type of vehicles does Premier Driving School use, and are they equipped with ABS braking system?

ANSWER: The vehicles we use are Honda Civics, which have been chosen specifically for the safety features they have including the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). They are equipped with front and side airbags, dual rear-view mirrors and passenger-side brake systems. We do NOT compromise the new driver’s visibility by using advertising wraps that cover the windows. Each vehicle is inspected and certified annually by the Washington State Department of Licensing.

QUESTION: How long has Premier Driving school been in business?

ANSWER: Premier Driving School has proudly been serving the Tri-City community and outlying regions since May 2005. We have an excellent reputation within the area which is evident in the number of students that travel many miles to attend our school. We are proud to say that we have served students from Vancouver, Walla Walla, Othello, Grandview, Prosser, Hermiston, Patterson and several other communities. We thank you all for your continued trust in us!

QUESTION: Is Premier Driving School operated under local family ownership, or part of a large franchise?

ANSWER: Premier Driving School is NOT a large franchise but a locally owned family business that truly cares about their students. You will often find us on the sidelines cheering them on in their various activities and sporting events. Because our family members use the same roads as our students, we have a vested interest in ensuring that we teach our students to drive safely and responsibly. This is more than a business for us. We honestly care about each of our students and will go out of our way to help them succeed.

QUESTION: Will someone answer the phone when I call, or will I get an answering machine?

ANSWER: We answer the phones Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm. I often get phone calls from students who attend other driving schools, who are unable to get their questions answered due to the lack of staff availability. We are happy to assist them in any way we can.

QUESTION: Are all Driving Schools the same?

ANSWER: All Driving Schools are NOT the same. I have heard some unbelievable stories over the years. You should be certain that your student is getting a premier education for the money that you spend. Our classroom is equipped with computers and a large screen television which show high clarity visual aids and videos. Our curriculum exceeds the minimum standard and is taught by certified instructors who lead discussions & engage our students in the learning process. You can be certain that videos only will not be doing the teaching within our classroom. We understand that every classroom presents a unique group of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. Each of our lessons will incorporate all of the learning styles, including auditory, visual and kinesthetic. We want every student to be successful not only in our program, but also on the roads we all share, where it truly counts.

QUESTION: How can I discover what learning style works best for me?

QUESTION: Does Premier Driving School welcome students with learning disabilities?

ANSWER: Absolutely yes! We are experienced with and succeed in helping students with varying disabilities, including but not limited to ADD, ADHD, Severe Dyslexia and Deafness, and mild forms of autism.
